Oil on canvas mounted on cardboard. Size: 13,4" x 17,8" (340 x 450) Framed: 16,1" x 20" (410mm x 510mm). Signed and dated Alex Scherban 1920 at the lower left. Later framed in a wooden frame with silver gilt (mid 1900s). A few signs of age and wear.
A colorful sunset by the sea. At the reverse is written " An der Riviera " / By the Riviera. Presumably a scenery from Italy. Alexander Scherban was born in Vienna, Austria, and died in Nürnberg, Germany.
He was active in Vienna as a member of the Kunstgemeinschaft Wien /. And did travels troughout Europe, as well as to the Middle East and the US.
