Amphora Type Austrian Art Nouveau Art Pottery Figural Tripod Vessel. Measures 8 inches in height and about 9½ across the top. Beautiful tripod vessel with three maidens supporting an opalescent bowl. The name Amphora refers to art pottery produced by a particular company in Teplitz during the Art Nouveau era. There were up to 30 ceramics manufacturers in the kaolin-rich Turn-Teplitz region of Bohemia at the time.

And they opened factories, closed again, changed owners, merged or shared common designers. Antique dealers and collectors often refer to Art Nouveau pottery produced in the Turn-Teplitz region collectively as Teplitz.

But the name Amphora is used exclusively by one particular company. Marks on the bottom are: "9 Made in Austria 1739" and "283.6". There are two areas of damage along the base. One has a sinle chip; the other is a series of three cips. I have tried to show them well in the photos.
