DESCRIPTION : Here is an early 20th century hand painted Austrian terracotta figure of a seated French bulldog. Naturalistically modeled and having good quality features. The bulldog is wearing a white frilled ruffle with a yellow studded collar over the top. Marked to the base with impressed number 1491 and having a black Wiener Werkstatte backstamp. Wiener Werkstatte ran from 1903 to 1932 and had a number of top craftsmen.
SIZE : The bulldog measure 5 3/4 inches high and 6 inches at widest point. Weighs 398 g before packing.CONDITION : The ear pictured on the left has been broken off around a third of the way down and neatly re-glued. The top of the ear does not have a chip it is glazed over and meant to be like that. The collar has four of the yellow studs with missing yellow enamel.
