Ernst Wahliss Austrian Art Nouveau Porcelain Vase Turn Teplitz Vienna C. 1910
Very high quality painting on ceramic features enameled and painted live green roses, green and blue floral decorations with gilt accents on all four sides and a gilded rim. 5" tall, 5" wide, 5 diameter. On the bottom is the Ernst Wahlss red is no. Stamp "Turn Vienna" and "Made in Austria" and inscribed in green with form number "984617" and third number "2".
Ernst Wahliss was a Victorian era Austrian (Vienna) merchant who was the leading retailer of porcelain goods. There is slight fading of the gold around the rim and a small line on the inside of the vase extending from the rim for less than one inch into the vase. It does not show on the outside of the vase. It has three panels of roses which have been highlighted in gold. This is a very elegant vase.
A collectors vase and very rare. This is a beautiful vase pre 1918. It is handpainted with wonderful colors. It has a very unique Art Nouveau design and really is in excellent condition for its age. In 1863 the Ernst Waliss was founded in Trnovany, Czech Republic (Turn-teplitz, Bohemia, Austria) 1894 Wallis bought the Alfred Stellmacher Imperial and Royal Porcelain Factory found in 1859. In 1905, his sons Hans and Erich named the company Alexandra Porcelan Works Ernst Wahliss. Manufacturing turned to jostlynfaience after 1910. This factory was known for its unique designs. Ernst Wahliss of Turn-Wien, Austria, was a regarded artist who designed Amphra art pottery. And Art Nouveau figures and busts. Check out my other items.
