Antique Bronze Gold Gilded Sculpture by P. Teseszczuk 1920's Rare, Gorgeous+
Peter Tereszczuk was an important Austrian-Ukrainian sculptor working in Vienna and known for his expressive and naturalistic Art Nouveau bronze sculptures. Born in 1875 in Wybudow, Ukraine then part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, Tereszczuk moved to Vienna to study sculpture at the Kunstgewerbeschule from 1893-99 under Hermann Klotz.
He lived and worked in Vienna at Zollergasse 43, the section of the city famous for its foundries and created fine bronze figural groups and sculptures in the Art nouveau style. His work is distinctive in style, often sentimental and with intriguing and contemplative expressions; the figures often with ivory faces and hands. Tereszczuk also created beautiful objects of art such as desk sets. Anyway, IT as we bought it, told the base was a rare option instead of marble/onyx permanent and it is gorgeous Onyx, functional, beautiful and displays this sculpture wonderfully. Bronze lady, cover all over in 18K gold gilding, face and arms are....11 inches tall on mount, 8 inches off tall, bronze is 4.5 inches by 3.5 inches, Mount, base is 5.5 inches by 4.25 inches paws/feet, felt liner, weighs together 9.8 pounds, sculpture is 4 pounds, must go to as set, came that way been that way goes that way. Very very rare, unique, heavily optioned 1875 Museum quality piece for sure.
