Antique Peter Tereszczuk Austrian Art Nouveau bronze/wood figurine boy on mound

Tereszczuk was an Austrian-Ukrainian sculptor known for his bronze Art Nouveau figurines, mostly sculptures of children. His work is very expressive and detailed.

Born in 1875 in Wybudow, Ukraine, he studied wood carving at the School of Arts and Crafts i Vienna under Hermann Klotz. Most of his work was created between 1895 and 1925 in Vienna, Austria. I have had 3 pieces by this artist for around 10 years, and enjoyed them immensely. This listing is for a bronze figure modelled as a downcast boy on a rocky mound, carrying a sack on his back, exquisitely carved face, on a circular mahogany base. Beautifully made, nice patina and satisfying weight.

Impressed cipher on side of bronze crag. Excellent condition - not chips, cracks, hairlines or restoration. Most items can be collected from me in person if you prefer - I live in Hessle, East Yorkshire, near the Humber Bridge!
