It is painted with an earthy color palette and has a grape vine design. There are several manufacturing and artist marks on the base. 6 1/2" high and 4" in wide including the handles. This beautiful early Amphora is hand painted in such a pretty design and. Attractive ornate handles adding to its charm.
The colors with the stylized dolphin handles are enchanting. Hand painted shows minimal signs of wear.
This is a very early piece, very good condition for the age. The minor flaws are almost unnoticeable, and does not detract from how well this piece displays. The base has two small flakes, there is one on the dolphin ear and a small area without glaze on the surface - please see photos for condition.
RSTK Reissner Stellmacher Kessel Austrian Amphora Pottery. Amphora is the name of a company and the term is often is used to describe the style of art pottery created at that period. Located in Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia (now the Czech Republic), the firm, founded in 1892 by Eduard Stellmacher, Hans and Karl Reissner, and Rudolf Kessel. Eduard's father Alfred Stellmacher, between 1876 and 1893, established himself as the master creator of decorative ceramics in Turn-Teplitz.
