C1910 AUSTRIA AMPHORA CAMPINA VASE RARE DARK TURQUOISE / GOLD OWLS by JUNGWIRTH

Vintage PMR Jaeger & Co. German Porcelain Vase w/Gold Decoration. Created in Austria by the master potter/decorator Max von Jungwirth. This unique vase has Jungwirth's signature deep vein "diking" or deep incising which created the crisp lines separating the matte finish from the glazed finish. This technique is referred to as "cloissone" due to the look accomplished. DESIGN: The vase has a wonderful Art Nouveau design with the face depicting a pair of owls perched on a branch in a frost pink with gold over glaze. The vase is mottled tan with turquoise wash allowing for a light glimpse of this color throughout. The top with handles and base are both heavily glazed in a deep turquoise with brown and green bead and button accents. The back of the vase features 3 pale green medallions. Amphora is world renowned for innovative technique and Jungqwirth was among the finest of master potters. MARK: The base of the vase is marked as follows all stamped: "AMPHORA" in oval, "CAMPINA" in rectangle,'AUSTRIA" in oval, crown, the potters lot number "11615" and the number "64. The Austria stamp in oval was only used 1899 to 1915. The Campina production dates were 1909 to 1914. The vase design specifically dates 1909 to 1910.

SIZE: Vase stands at 10" tall, 3 3/4" wide from handle to handle, a top opening of 1 5/8" and a base diameter of 3 3/4" at the widest point. This fine vase has no chips, cracks or restorations.
