This is a truly superb early-1900s FRAMED ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING on an off-white, fairly-thick, card-like paper stock, depicting an untitled PORTRAIT of a LADY, believed to be his favorite muse, model and lover, the already married ADELE BLOCH-BAUER.

It is an exquisite portrait in a light impasto of rich, deep OIL PAINTS, creating an inky-deep, blue-black environment for his beautiful subject. Adele is pictured here wearing a white bejeweled RUFF around her elegant neck, although it could equally well be a multi-strand necklace, it is hard to be sure which. Ruffs were certainly in fashion again in Europe at the turn of the century. The picture view-size measures a generous: 11 3/8" x 8" (29 cm x 20 1/2 cm). Matted with a gold-wood filet inner matte liner.
