About the item: Early 20th century Austrian cold painted bronze inkwell, c1910. Cast in figural form as a Rhinoceros this is a fine and heavy example weighing 1kg. The base is marked'Geshutzt' or similar (it's a little indistinct), a mark regularly used on German / Austrian antiques in the early 20th century and meaning'legally protected/copyrighted'. The hinged lid opens to reveal two openings for the ink.At some point it would have held porcelain or glass inkwells, but these are now missing. A lovely decorative piece in good original condition in line with age and use. Size: 8.5cm tall x 16cm long/wide x 6cm deep, weight 1kg.
