Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this very fine. Original 1885 fully stamped and signed. Wiener Manufaktur Friedrich Goldscheider Lesca (or Leska) Austrian bronze wall relief picture in the period frame. Have you ever seen such an impressive, Art Nouveau, bronze wall relief! Made by the genius that was Goldscheider, I have only ever seen one other of these plaques come up for sale and it was missing the frame and no where near as lovely as this, it had also lost most of the green and orange colours this piece still retains.

Born on November 6, 1845 in Plzen, Czech Republic, he is best remembered for his founding of the Goldscheider Manufactory and Majolica Factory in 1885 Vienna, which is a world-renowned producer of terracotta, faience, bronze, and alabaster ceramics and objects. Goldscheider's most recognized works are small, posed, ceramic figures which are influenced by turn-of-the-century artistic movements like Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and Orientalism, featuring flowing lines and naturalistic decorative motifs.

In 1889, he notably won the Bronze Medal for terra cotta pieces at the International Exhibition held in Paris. Goldscheider died in Nice, France on January 19, 1897. This piece just screams originality, the frame, the finish, its uncleaned, unrestored and has all the period patination, this is.

Quality at its absolute best. Measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask. Royal House Antiques is a privately owned family ran business founded in Wimbledon SW19 and now based in Pulborough RH20.
