Vintage c 1900 AMPHORA-TEPLITZ Pottery Tri-Woodpecker Vase Austria Czech

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, numerous potteries operated in the vicinity of Teplitz in the Bohemian region of what was Austria but is now the Czech Republic. One of the potteries was Amphora which produced this stunning RARE 3-faced "woodpecker" vase.

Amphora Pottery's most highly prized pieces for collectors were/are the "tri-face surround" pieces - owls, cats, lions and birds. They command high prices (I have shown a sample - owl in photo #12 - enlarge and read and notice the rarity of faced animal pieces).

The first 3 photos look like the same photo but are, in fact, the 3 sides of the vase. On the bottom of this bird vase are the following incisements. The incised numbers "15016" and "00" and the letter "Y". Condition: Excellent (do note that the lower part of the cross in photo #7 has the "dot" but no white paint which appears more likely to have been overlooked in the production of the piece). The rim of the vase in the photo #8 appears to be blue when, in fact, it is green.

Vase Top Diameter = 3. Vase Bottom Diameter = 2-3/4.
